-For avoiding predators: Tigers are the predator in the wild so they rarely get hunted the and adaptation that they use to catch there prey are there mouths. (1) A tiger's jaw normally has 30 teeth, they are mostly mad for slicing flesh. The teeth are usually 2.5to 3 inches in length. As you can see the tigers teeth in one bit to the neck (as you will see in the link video below) could kill an animal instantly.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YBzolwLFaKk
-for getting sufficient resources for survival: To catch there prey the tiger use its speed and leaping ability. Tigers can run about 35 miles per hour (56 kph) and the average speed of a tigers favorite prey the wild boar runs at about 30mph which give the tiger a pretty nice advantage over the prey. Tigers can jump up to 15 to 25 feet and 5 feet in the air which give them about a 90% chance of catching there prey. ( see picture below)
Behavioral Adaptions
- Roar: (2) Tigers roar for many different reasons some of the reason are to communicate with other tigers in the group, to scare of competing tiger, and to warn others. Tigers can tell the difference of the roar by listen to the pitch of the roar.
- Sneaking behind prey: My theory is that tigers sneak up behind there prey because before they use to sneak behind there prey some animals would run away when they see the tigers so it decided to sneak behind its prey so they wouldn't see him when its trying to capture them.
-Fur: cub when they are little and they cant see so there parents hide them and because of there fur color they can blend in with grass and predators cant get them
close relatives
A close relative of the tiger is the Asiatic lion also know as the panthera Leo persica. The Asiatic lion is one of the five major big cats found in India, Asiatic lions once ranged from the Mediterranean to the north-eastern parts of the Indian subcontinent, but hunting, water pollution and reduction in natural prey reduced their habitat (3). Another other animal that is a close relative of the tiger is the Cheetah also no as the Acinonyx jubatus, the cheetah is the fastest land animal, reaching speeds between 112 and 120 km/h (70 and 75 mph) which is as fast as a car.(4)
The tigers habitat
The Siberian tiger is completely confined to the Amur-Ussuri region of Primorsky Krai and Khabarovsk Krai in far eastern Siberia, where it is now protected.(5) The Siberian has a narrow niche because it wouldn't be able to survive in another part of the world.
Why are they in endangered?
Some reasons why the this type of tiger is endangered because of hunting, and Decline of available habitat and prey.
If the tiger went extinct?
If the tiger went extinct, the animals in the habitat would over populated.
